I AM YOGI: why two Birmingham studios moved to a platform built for wellness

After five years on Wix, I AM YOGI wanted a platform built specifically for wellness studios. They moved two studios' worth of members, memberships and their website onto CodexFit in a single day, powered end to end by one team and platform

The people were the stand-out for us, as well as the platform ticking all our boxes. Another big plus was that you could also design our website. That seamless approach is what stood out.

A studio built on people

I AM YOGI didn’t begin in a conventional studio. It began with Vicky teaching yoga in a building on a pub car park in Moseley, a space she renamed The Glasshouse. From there came The Cabin, a purpose-built wooden studio that still stands in Moseley Park today.

What began in one unexpected space has since grown into a yoga brand with two distinct studios. The Cabin is light-filled by day and cosy by night, while The Unit brings a darker, more contemporary feel to Sutton Coldfield town centre. Beyond the studios, I AM YOGI continues to bring yoga into unexpected corners of the city, from outdoor green spaces to bustling food courts.

Behind it all is a deliberately structured team: the teachers teach, while a dedicated reception team takes care of everything beyond the studio door. That means every instructor can focus fully on the people in front of them, but it also means the operational side of the business needs to work seamlessly in the background.

After five years, the team knew they needed a booking platform designed around the realities of running a studio like theirs.

Growing into a specialist platform

For its first five years, I AM YOGI ran on Wix. The platform had supported the business through its early growth, but as one studio became two, the limitations of a general website builder became increasingly clear.

"During that time we transitioned from one to two studios. There were certain wellness and yoga studio specific features we needed and wanted."

Multi-site timetabling, credit packs, memberships and waitlists are everyday requirements for a growing wellness brand, but specialist territory for a general web platform. As I AM YOGI’s operation became more sophisticated, the system behind it needed to evolve too.

"This is why we started researching new platforms. We knew we needed to move before opening another studio."

The team recognised that the best time to make the move was before the next stage of growth, not in the middle of it.

The demo that felt different

I AM YOGI did the research properly, taking demos with all of the established studio platforms. What set the shortlist apart was the people.

CodexFit stood out from the first conversation. The platform ticked every box, but what separated it was that the people on the call were the people they would keep working with.

"So when we discovered CodexFit, the people were stand-out for us, as well as the platform ticking all our boxes."

There was another practical advantage that no other platform could offer: CodexFit could build the website too. Instead of connecting a booking system to a site created by a separate provider, I AM YOGI could work with one team across the entire member journey, from discovering the brand and browsing the timetable to booking and paying.

What made CodexFit the right fit

PEOPLE

The same team, every time

Named contacts through demo, onboarding and migration, plus a support desk Lucy describes as "AMAZING". The same faces, start to finish.

Scope

Platform and website together

One partner designing the site and powering the bookings behind it, so the member journey never breaks character.

Fit

Built for wellness studios

Multi-site timetabling, credit packs, memberships, waitlists and late-cancel rules that a general website builder was never going to offer.

Rehearsed, tracked, delivered

Moving two studios' worth of members, memberships and credit packs off Wix in a single day is a significant undertaking, and it was I AM YOGI's first migration. CodexFit built the process around that.

"We did four or five test migrations, which was helpful, it allowed me to practise for the real thing."

Each test run gave the team a chance to rehearse the real thing, check the data and build confidence ahead of the single switchover day. A shared tracker kept both sides aligned on exactly what was happening and when.

"The spreadsheet we had was super useful, it clearly showed what was happening and when. Very responsive; we never waited long for a response."

Both studios went live on the new system on migration day, with the new website launching alongside it.

Supported the whole way through

Ask Lucy what made the difference, and the answer isn't a feature.

"The team have been wonderful, specifically Poppy and Astrid. We have felt supported throughout the whole process, from the demo, to the onboarding and migration, and now."

That continuity was what I AM YOGI had been looking for. The people who understood their setup on day one still understand it today, through onboarding, migration and everyday use.

The support desk gets the same verdict. When the team need a hand with a configuration, help arrives quickly and from people who know the studio: "the support desk, who are AMAZING."

A switch the yogis noticed, and liked

I AM YOGI launched the new platform alongside a new website, so the change was visible from the member side and landed well.

"The switch was well received by most of our customers. Once the app came out, yogis were so excited and complimented how easy it was to use and navigate. They love seeing how many classes they've attended."

Throughout the changeover, the team kept members informed with regular comms, and the community responded well.

"Overall people were very understanding. Once the app came out, yogis were so excited."

That's the advantage of a studio built on relationships: members came with them on the journey, and the new app gave them more reason to engage than they had before.

A month in

Thirty days on, the difference shows up in the small, repeated tasks that used to cost the reception team their attention.

"It's so much easier, from checking in, to viewing and managing members, to pulling reports."

I AM YOGI are now running timetable management, member management, payments and POS, reporting, waitlist automation and the Automator as part of normal operations across both sites.

There is more still to come. Refer-a-friend and instructor payroll are queued up as the team settles in, and a new version of the Automator is on the way, something Lucy is "super excited" about.

Signals at 30 days

Thirty days into a British summer, historically I AM YOGI's quietest trading period, the headline numbers aren't the story yet. The behaviour change is.

"There are definitely fewer no-shows. The late-cancel feature has helped with this, it's not something we had before."

Fewer no-shows means more spots released back to waitlists, fuller classes, and less revenue quietly leaking out of the timetable. It's a single feature, new to I AM YOGI, already changing member behaviour inside a month.

With refer-a-friend and the wider automation toolkit still to come online ahead of the autumn peak, the team's expectation is that the commercial signals follow.

"The personal, bespoke service CodexFit provide is what truly sets them apart from other software providers. They take the time to understand the needs of your business, listen to your feedback, and help you get the most out of the platform. If there's something you need that doesn't already exist, they're genuinely open to working with you to develop it. We can't wait to continue growing alongside CodexFit."
